Destro: ‘Important Bologna project’

Mattia Destro reveals Bologna’s ‘important project’ convinced him to sign for the newly-promoted side.

The striker spent the second half of last season at Milan, but the Rossoneri opted not to make the deal permanent, and he returned to Roma.

The capital club then tried to sell him to Monaco, which Destro rejected, before eventually agreeing to join the Rossoblu.

“It was an important choice for me, and I’m 100 per cent convinced,” the Italian international told reporters at his presentation Press conference.

“Bologna are a great team, who want to grow and have big plans. What we hope to do will be long-lasting and beautiful.

“The welcome I received was great, you can see from that the desire of the fans to get behind the team in this project.

“I accepted from the first moment, it was just a case of ironing out the details.

“The desire to participate in an important project and to put myself at the centre of that made a difference.”
