Milan defender Cristian Zapata says Mario Balotelli has a new ‘serious’ attitude on his return to the club.
The striker’s loan move from Liverpool has not yet been officially confirmed, but he’s been training at Milanello for the past two days.
“He seems serious,” Zapata told Milan Channel.
“He definitely wants to make up for what happened over the past year with Liverpool. He needs to get in the game, and certainly over the past two days he’s been doing that.
“We hope he continues like this.”
The Colombian international also spoke about new Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, and insists the Serbian has changed the players’ mentality.
“We’re working with great intensity. He’s come in and changed the mentality of the players. We work to the maximum every day, the results will come.
“The Coach wants a high defensive line, one that isn’t afraid to play one-on-one. I feel fit, and I’m good at doing that.
“This is my fourth season here. The first one was definitely a good one, in which we made it into the Champions League.
“The other two years didn’t go well, and we had some difficulty. We hope to get back to a high level, and we’re working to achieve that.”
Finally, Zapata discussed his compatriot Carlos Bacca, another new striker at San Siro.
“It’s always nice to have a compatriot on the same team. I’ve been lucky to always have fellow Colombians. He’s a great players, and I hope he’ll do well here.
“He’s determined to do well, and he shows that in every training session.”
