Roberto Mancini said Inter “can improve a great deal” and warned they need more new buys after beating Carpi 2-1.

Stevan Jovetic has so far scored all three of the Nerazzurri’s Serie A goals this season, which maintained their 100 per cent record.

“It is pleasing to have won this game too, but the team can improve a great deal,” Mancini told Sport Mediaset.

“We conceded an absurd goal, but Carpi fought hard and I tell Fabrizio Castori his side can stay in Serie A playing like that.

“Jeison Murillo and Joao Miranda were extraordinary tonight, the defence did well and we could’ve finished the game off earlier.

“We did well and created numerous opportunities, but they have to be taken at this level.”

Ivan Perisic arrived from Wolfsburg this weekend and ahead of transfer deadline day Mancini still wants more reinforcements.

“The fact remains this is a very small squad and some roles are completely uncovered. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

There were reports Juventus had approached Inter to ask for Hernanes.

“Hernanes is a very important player for us. The only reason he hasn’t been playing the last two games is an injury.”
