Toronto FC striker Sebastian Giovinco has been forced to leave the Italy squad with injury.
The Atomic Ant suffered an injury to his adductor muscle while playing against Montreal Impact, but flew to Italy to join the Azzurri squad anyway.
However, after being assessed by doctors at Coverciano, the former Juventus forward has left the training camp.
“Sebastian Giovinco left the training camp at Coverciano early this morning,” the FIGC confirmed in a statement.
“The Toronto player picked up an injury in Saturday’s game with Montreal Impact, which has prevented him from playing any part in the upcoming games against Malta and Bulgaria.”
Giovinco has scored 17 goals and assisted 12 since making the move to MLS in January.
