The former Manchester United man has been the subject of intense speculation surrounding his future, with Bianconeri general manager Giuseppe Marotta warning he would cost over €100m.

One of the teams linked with a move for Pogba is English Premier League side Chelsea, and today’s edition of L’Equipe reports that manager Jose Mourinho personally tried to convince the 22-year-old to move to Stamford Bridge.

The sports newspaper reports that Mourinho called Pogba in August, but was unable to convince the player, who would prefer to move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if he leaves Turin.

L’Equipe also notes that the Old Lady were unwilling to sell, and while there was no official bid from Chelsea, initial talks made it clear that Juve were not willing to negotiate.
