Moratti: 'Miha's Milan misfortune'

Massimo Moratti is looking forward to Inter-Milan this Sunday, joking about Sinisa Mihajlovic’s “misfortune.”

Mihajlovic joined the Rossoneri this summer, having represented the Nerazzurri as a player and assistant manager to Roberto Mancini.

“In all honesty, the Derby is the game that gives you the most sleepless nights, as you think of everything that could happen,” former President Moratti told Inter Channel.

“It’s a fixture you suffer through, also as this season it’s played too early to get away with it going badly. There are many new faces at Inter and we have to confirm the strong start.

“Mancini and Mihajlovic are two friends. Sinisa is an intelligent man who had the quality of learning, so with affection, I say he garnered something from Mancini during their time working together.

“Now he happened to suffer this misfortune of being at Milan,” Moratti laughed.

“I am happy he has found an important club, because he deserves to show his talent at the highest level. It won’t be easy for him, but I do wish him all the best.

“Obviously, I don’t hope he does well against Inter. Mancini can prove his professionalism this year.

“These are players who can entertain the fans, then if we think of Mancini’s attacking mentality… we can have fun this season.

“We also have to target victory. I won’t say we need to win the title, but as many games as possible.”

Moratti was asked who of the new faces he was most impressed by.

“I find the centre-backs to be fundamental, especially for the style of football Mancini has in mind. They calm everyone else down.

“I also say elements like Geoffrey Kondogbia, Stevan Jovetic and Adem Ljajic can be positive and entertaining. Ivan Perisic is very useful and a very intelligent player.”
