Manuel Pellegrini admits Manchester City’s goal against Juventus “clearly should’ve been disallowed.”
Giorgio Chiellini put the ball into his own net from a corner, but only after Vincent Kompany had climbed on to his shoulders.
Shown the replay by Italian television Mediaset Premium, the City manager confessed “yes, it clearly should’ve been disallowed.”
Juve went on to win the Champions League clash 2-1 at the Etihad with Mario Mandzukic and Alvaro Morata strikes.
“We hope to turn this around when we play them in Turin. Tonight we were faced with an extraordinary Gigi Buffon.
“Despite the defeat, we dominated until that strange Juventus goal. We kept the ball more than they did and created more chances.
“Last year we started with a defeat too, but we qualified anyway.”
