Santon: ‘I had offers’

Davide Santon admits he ‘had a lot of offers’ to leave Inter this summer, but always intended to stay.

The full-back was linked with a number of clubs, including Watford in the English Premier League, but opted to remain at San Siro.

“I had a lot of offers,” Santon admitted, speaking to journalists at Brooks Brothers in Milan.

“My intention never changed: I wanted to stay at Inter. I can win things in this shirt, but we have to continue as we have been, and not stop.

“The spirit in the squad is making a difference, compared to last season we’re more united, and we have a huge will to win.

“The new players who have arrived have settled in very well, and share our ideas.”

The former Newcastle United defender singled out Stevan Jovetic for praise among the club’s new signings.

“He has surprised me a lot, he has great qualities. I’m sorry about the injuries which have affected him in recent seasons, but he’s fine now and he’s really helping us.”
