“The 4-2 result in May was a wonderful night full of emotions, but that is the past and tomorrow is our present,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

That victory saw Lazio snatch third place and the Champions League play-off, but they then lost to Bayer Leverkusen and were bumped down to the Europa League.

“Lazio are getting closer to the team we saw last season. I see in my players that determination to get things right. We are working to improve and find consistency, which will also help our self-belief.

“Napoli are looking for the same targets as us and have a lot of quality, but we must believe in our potential. They have a different philosophy now compared to when Rafa Benitez was in charge.

“We still make too many mistakes and are therefore not picking up what we deserve. This is serious and we must stop being left with regrets. You get results with performances and we have to step on the gas tomorrow.

“Against Dnipro on Thursday we made a collective error and psychologically perhaps thought the win was secure at the 94th minute. Football taught us another valuable lesson, that we must play to the whistle with the utmost focus.”

The Biancocelesti are without Stefan de Vrij, Miroslav Klose and Lucas Biglia, but Candreva has also now pulled out of the trip to Napoli.

“He had an ankle injury yesterday and has not recovered. Ravel Morrison was called up for Dnipro, but his ankle continues to cause him trouble and the Achilles tendon was inflamed.

“What advice do I have for Felipe Anderson? Keep working with a cool head and listen to the right advice. He has the quality to do great things and will do in future too.”

Lazio squad for Napoli: Marchetti, Berisha, Guerrieri; Basta, Braafheid, Gentiletti, Hoedt, Konko, Mauricio, Patric, Radu; Cataldi, Felipe Anderson, Lulic, Mauri, Milinkovic-Savic, Oikonomidis, Onazi, Parolo; Djordjevic, Keita, Kishna, Matri
