Maurizio Zamparini said Palermo “may as well have stayed home” after blasting the referee in their 3-2 defeat to Milan.

The Rosanero saw both Coach Beppe Iachini and assistant manager Giuseppe Carillo sent off from the touchline for dissent by referee Carmine Russo.

“If I’d known he was officiating, I’d have told my players they may as well stay at home. It’s ugly to see officiating in this manner,” said President Zamparini.

“I saw a Palermo that was alive and kicking in the second half, but I didn’t like Russo or Milan. We’re not there yet.

“The emblematic moment was the last foul committed 10 minutes from the end on Franco Vazquez: they were afraid we’d equalise.”
