Agent: ‘Insigne not greedy’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent denies his client is too greedy with the ball - “the numbers say the opposite”.

The Napoli playmaker attracted criticism from some quarters after last night’s 0-0 draw with Carpi, having taken a number of shots from range.

“The statistics speak for themselves,” Antonio Ottaiano insisted, speaking to Radio Crc.

“I don’t think Insigne doesn’t pass to his teammates on the pitch, because the numbers say the opposite.

“If my client has tried a number of shots at goal, it’s because he was looking for a solution from outside of the wall Carpi had put up.

“I can truthfully say that it’s not the case that Insigne doesn’t link-up with his teammates at the edge of the box, because the one-two is his main characteristic.”

Napoli take on Juventus this Saturday, and Ottaiano expects a tough game for the Vesuviani.

“The teams arrive in the same situation, but the advantage is with Napoli, as they’re on their own pitch at San Paolo.

“It’s a match which is not decisive, but it’s certainly important for the rest of the season. Above all, it’s crucial for confidence.

“Napoli will try to win, for a number of reasons, but when you’re facing Juve it’s never an easy match.”
