Roberto Mancini reflects on Inter’s 4-1 defeat to Fiorentina, saying: ‘some matches are bad from the start.’
The Nerazzurri suffered the heavy defeat at San Siro on Sunday after winning their first five Serie A matches.
“There are matches that are bad from the start and you can’t do anything about it,” Mancini told Il Messaggero.
“After less than 20 minutes we were two goals down, having conceded only one shot…
“When Miranda was sent off, the match was finished. It was a match that you can’t analyse from a technical aspect – that was how it went and it’s done now.
“Did I get the formation wrong? I don’t have to answer that. In Italy everyone is a Coach.
“But sometimes no one notices when you change module. Against Verona, for example, we played with the same system in the second half and everything went well.
“With Perisic on the right wing, which is his natural role. But against Fiorentina everything that we prepared became useless after 20 minutes.
“Too many compliments for us? I’d say too few. Despite the five wins, all of which were deserved and without every conceding in defence, they continued to accuse us of only knowing how to win 1-0.
“Maybe some couldn’t wait for us to lose so that they could say ‘You see that I was right?’
“Obviously I would’ve signed up to be top after six rounds though.”
