Alessandro Florenzi pulled no punches after Roma’s 3-2 loss to BATE Borisov. “We spent the first half in the locker room.”

The Giallorossi were 3-0 down by the 30th minute in Belarus, as the late fightback was not enough.

“Would a draw have been fair? I don’t know about that, but undoubtedly it was a different Roma in the second half,” Florenzi told Mediaset Premium.

“We all need to take a good hard look at our performance. In my view, Roma are a better team than BATE and if we prepare for the game in the right way it ends well for us and badly for them.

“We didn’t go out there with the right attitude. There can be no other explanation, seeing as we conceded the goals in such a brief period of time.

“We didn’t read their attacks well, as they pushed really hard down the left. We were unable to find counter-measures. It is only our fault.

“We need to improve in terms of concentration and intensity, but above all it is an issue of mentality. We spent the first half in the locker room. This was a game we should’ve come here to win.”
