Callejon: ‘Scudetto an objective’

Jose Callejon admits “the Scudetto is an objective” for Napoli this season “but let’s take it slowly.”

The Partenopei’s recent results have led to many tipping them as potential title winners, having beaten Milan, Lazio and Juventus in recent weeks, and the Spaniard is not ruling anything out.

“The Scudetto is an objective,” Callejon acknowledged in an interview with Sky.

“It’s also a dream, so let’s take it slowly. I think we have to enjoy ourselves and play well. I think we have the best attack in Serie A, there are so many good players.

“Gonzalo Higuain? He’s our leader, he always looks calm. It’s true that he’s angry when we don’t win, but that’s normal because it’s his personality.”

After a difficult start to life with the Vesuviani, Coach Maurizio Sarri is winning rave reviews, and Callejon thanks the former Empoli boss for showing faith in him.

“I talked to Sarri on the first day [of pre-season], he said he had confidence in me and that we’d have a good season. He showed great confidence in me, and that’s why I stayed.

“The city and the fans are important to me. We play for ourselves first and foremost, then for the fans who support us, we have to do well for them.”
