Conte: ‘Contract not a priority’

CT Antonio Conte is not thinking about his Italy contract - “it’s not a priority”.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has repeatedly said he would like to see the Azzurri boss stay on beyond the end of his current deal, which expires after the European Championships.

“I’m not thinking about the contract,” Conte told reporters in his Press conference ahead of the match with Azerbaijan.

“It’s not a priority at the moment, I’m thinking about qualifying and playing a great European Championships.

“I thank the President, because these are expressions of esteem, and they’re pleasing.

“We’ll put in the passion and the work, when the time is right we’ll talk about everything.”

Italy can seal their place in France for Euro 2016 with a win in Baku tomorrow, and the Coach is pleased with what his squad is doing.

“I’m satisfied with the work we’re doing. I expect my team to be determined at every stage, while being aware of the strength of our opponents.

“I’ll choose the players based on form.”
