Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says suggestions he could be ostracised by Italy are “absurd”.
The Napoli playmaker pulled out of the Azzurri squad to face Azerbaijan and Norway with an injury, with suggestions CT Antonio Conte was not happy, and could leave him out of future squads.
“Guessing the squad for the European Championships eight months in advance is a bit much,” Fabio Andreotti scoffed, speaking to Radio Marte.
“How can you tell that Insigne will be left out of the national team for the European Championships, as some newspapers have done?
“A fortnight ago, Insigne was in the stands, but now Conte was upset that he had to go away because he wanted to focus on him.
“Things change so quickly that’s it’s absurd to think about who will be called now. We’ve always had positive signs from the national team, even when Lorenzo was added to the squad at the last minute.
“Insigne is in the national team, he’s having a big year for his club, because it’s the year of the European Championships.”
