The Bianconeri take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League this evening, looking to secure their third win in a row in this competition.

Striker Alvaro Morata has scored in his last five European games for the club, equalling a record set by Del Piero 20 years ago.

Pinturicchio netted against Borussia Dortmund and Rangers in both matches against those sides in the 1995/96 Champions League group stages, as well as in one of the ties with Steaua Bucharest.

Morata has now scored in both legs against Real Madrid in the semi-finals last season, the final against Barcelona and also against Manchester City and Sevilla this term.

With a goal tonight, the Spaniard will break the legendary striker’s Champions League record for the Old Lady.

At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Gigi Buffon is closing in on another record.

While Del Piero is comfortably in the lead on games played for the club [705 to third-place Buffon’s 535], the goalkeeper only has to play 73 minutes tonight to become the man who has spent most time representing the Bianconeri on the pitch.

Del Piero – a forward and thus more likely to be substituted or start from the bench – played 48,867 minutes for the Bianconeri in official matches, while Buffon is currently on 48,794.
