“Borussia have found extraordinary energy and play with a more relaxed state of mind now. They are opponents to be respected,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“We’re asking ourselves why we don’t score many goals. We no longer have Carlos Tevez and suffered a lot of injuries.

“It requires patience, because we didn’t score much in the first year under Antonio Conte either, but we still won the Scudetto.

“We’ll soon find our rhythm, if not with individuals, then as a group.”

Morata has scored in each of the last five Champions League games for Juventus, matching the Alessandro Del Piero club record.

Real Madrid still have a buy-back option on the Spaniard, but Morata has said he’ll gladly stay in Turin.

“As always, what the player wants is the predominant factor and we are counting on this, as well as our excellent rapport with Real Madrid.

“Our intention is to bring Morata home.”
