“The Giallorossi have a squad that allows them to compete for the Scudetto, as they reinforced a great deal over the summer,” said Sousa in his Press conference.

“Their attack is much stronger than their defence, which reinforces my own personal style of football. We want to hurt Roma with our possession.

“Tomorrow I want an ambitious Fiorentina that only wants the victory.”

The atmosphere is bound to be tense, as Salah returns to Florence for the first time since he refused to extend his agreed loan spell from Chelsea.

Fiorentina are continuing legal action with FIFA to get the Egypt international suspended for breach of contract.

“It’s normal for a player to be jeered when he faces his old club, but our fans should use their energy towards cheering us on. Besides, often indifference is a far stronger message than jeers.

“I am proud to be in charge of this side, especially after our wonderful trip to Napoli last week. Despite everything, our fans supported us to the end and this makes me very proud.”

Fiorentina are still top of the Serie A table, but have lost both their Europa League home games and on Thursday were stunned by Lech Poznan.

“Napoli and Lech were two very different games. In Europe we struggled on the transition from defence and this allows our opponents to score from set plays,” insisted Sousa.

“A victory is worth double tomorrow, seeing as we are ahead of Roma in the standings. We have a few issues at the moment, but we can fight it out with anyone.

“Marcos Alonso is young and never really had injury problems before, so if he feels ready, then he will play.”
