Radja Nainggolan said Roma played an “almost perfect match” against Fiorentina, as they overtake the Serie A leaders.

There was one point separating these sides going into the Stadio Franchi and the Giallorossi’s 2-1 victory puts them on top.

“We gave a response on the pitch,” Nainggolan told Mediaset Premium.

“It is an important victory, now let us enjoy this evening, but there’s another game against Udinese on Wednesday, so there’s no time to celebrate.

“We are aware of our strength and play every game to win. Today was the toughest game so far, but we stayed solid. It was the almost perfect match, because we shouldn’t have conceded that late goal.”

Now that Roma are two points clear at the top of the table and finding their form, are they the Scudetto favourites?

“We are up there. We can’t make the same mistake as last season, when we rested on our laurels. We must fight in every match, because this year there isn’t a single easy game.

“We defended well today and had some chances to increase our tally as well, but the important thing was to win. It was a hard-fought and deserved victory.”
