Roma Coach Rudi Garcia points out that his players are “top because they deserve it” but warns against complacency.
The Giallorossi went top of Serie A by beating Fiorentina 2-1 in Florence this weekend, and are looking to consolidate that position against Udinese tomorrow.
“When I’m a commentator, I won’t have my say on everything,” Garcia laughed, when asked about being tipped for the Scudetto in his pre-match Press conference.
“We’re not moved by being made favourites, I like the attitude of the lads. They’re top because they deserve it.
“We’ve got players back, we haven’t lost any others, and the team is continuing to get good results which have led us to 20 points.
“At this point the table doesn’t matter, you have to take it one game at a time and the right attitude is to always think that the next one is the most important.
“I hope the lads have understood that, I’ll have my answer after the game tomorrow.”
The Lupi have taken just two points from their opening three Champions League games, would they be better off focusing on Serie A?
“No, never. I want to win every competition in which we’re entered, though of course the League is our bread and butter, that’s obvious.
“That’s how it is for us, and it’s also obvious that it would take a miracle for us to win the Champions League.
“Before thinking about miracles like that we have to think of the group, which we want to qualify from. I’m not going to start making plans for Leverkusen though, that match will only exist after the Inter game.
“We’re in the running for everything, we’ll see where we are after the games.”
