Giovanni Trapattoni attempts to explain Juventus’ poor start to the season - “it happened to me…”
The Bianconeri have lost four of their opening 10 Serie A games, but the man who won six Scudetti and the European Cup with the Old Lady stresses that off-years can happen.
“Bad years happened to me too, immediately after winning in other years,” Trapattoni reminded Corriere dello Sport.
“It seems to me that Juve are suffering above all with the attrition of some players, and I don’t mean just physically, but psychologically too.
“The pressure is always high in Turin, and Juve are the team everyone wants to beat.
“Allegri has definitely suffered with injuries, and also the national teams and the cup competitions have taken players and energy. I don’t know if that could have affected their preparation.
“The changes? Well, it’s not automatic that a replacement can be at the same level as his predecessor, but I wouldn’t give responsibility to someone in particular.
“These periods happen in football.”
