Serie B outfit Ascoli have announced the dismissal of Coach Mario Petrone after four consecutive defeats.

The club were promoted from Lega Pro in the summer despite losing in the play-offs, after Teramo and Catania were relegated because of their part in the ‘Goal Trains’ scandal.

Former San Marino Coach Petrone took charge of the club last summer and oversaw their fortuitous promotion, but leaves with the club struggling in 20th place.

“Ascoli Picchio 1898 announce that the Coach Mario Petrone, by mutual agreement with the club, from today is no longer the Coach of Ascoli,” read a statement on the club’s website today.

“The club, recognising the Coach for the promotion from Serie B and the high moral and professional values, wishes him the best of success.”
