Ancelotti: ‘Not returning to Chelsea’

Carlo Ancelotti quashes rumours of a Chelsea return, and discusses this seasons Scudetto race.

The former Milan Coach has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, as the blues continue to struggle under Jose Mourinho this season.

“In football you have to be ready to go anywhere,” Ancelotti explained to Sky.

“The English League has fascinated me a lot, but I’m willing to go anywhere.

“Chelsea or Bayern? At the moment it’s just gossip and nothing more. Mourinho has difficulties, but Chelsea have taken a clear decision to back him, and they’ve done well to do so.

“[Pep] Guardiola has no problems at Bayern and has no reason to change.

“Could I go back to Chelsea? That’s a trick question, the Blues already have a manager to solve their problems.”

Ancelotti was also asked for his opinion on Italy’s title race, and sees a close contest.

“It’s a balanced League, there are teams who are playing very well. There’s a bit of everything, Fiorentina and Juventus are on the rise.

“It will be neck-and-neck until the end.

“The favourite? A week ago I said Roma, because they have a lot of quality up-front, but Napoli are also doing well.

“Inter, despite not playing much spectacular football have incredible strength. There’s a lot of uncertainty for me.

“Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Milan? I think he’s the right man, I said it even before yesterday’s result [3-1 away to Lazio].

“It’s a very important result for the atmosphere, Milan are back in the positions that count. It takes time to transmit ideas about how to play positively, then the results follow.

“Mihajlovic is the right person, he knows football and has great experience.”
