Beppe Marotta welcomed Stephan Lichtsteiner back for Juventus and backed Hernanes against Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Champions League clash kicks off at 19.45 GMT, follow the action on our LIVEBLOG.
“We are very happy with Stephan’s return and the fact he’s starting tonight. If Massimiliano Allegri picked him for the starting XI, it’s because he is aware of his form,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.
Lichtsteiner is thrown straight into the starting XI for his comeback just a month after undergoing heart surgery.
“The process of change is good for a team and if Juve have these champions who prove how much they care about the shirt, it can only help the new arrivals and fire up those who were already here.
“Our tactics vary during the game and it’s good to be adaptable. We are Juventus, we must always be competitive technically, tactically and emotionally.
“In the Champions League we are travelling at a strong pace and are top of the group. As for our Serie A form, it took a while for the new players to settle in, especially as we had prior engagements like the Italian Super Cup in Shanghai.”
Hernanes was surprisingly picked in the trequartista role and Juan Guillermo Cuadrado dropped for this game.
“Hernanes provides an alternative. We won’t forget that during the match Cuadrado could get some playing time. It was a well-thought out decision based also on our opponents.”
Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said there’s no reason to think the midfielder has to leave Juventus.
“Fortunately the transfer window is a long way off,” shrugged Marotta. “He is concentrated on this season. Raiola said the truth.”
