The Fiorentina striker’s career has been badly affected by a series of knee operations and is still not fully fit.
“When leaving the Bayern Munich office, I had concluded negotiations for Giuseppe Rossi’s transfer to Bavaria,” Federico Pastorello declared at a publicity event today.
“However, he then got injured and therefore the whole thing was abandoned.”

It’s not clear when precisely this deal occurred, as the 28-year-old was at Manchester United until 2007, then moved to Villarreal.
He eventually joined Fiorentina in January 2013, but suffered yet more knee injuries.
