Milan CEO Adriano Galliani credited Sinisa Mihajlovic with their revival and made a cryptic comment on Andrea Pirlo to Inter.
The Rossoneri have won three on the bounce and seek a fourth against Atalanta tonight. Follow the action as it happens on our LIVEBLOG.
“We are focused on Atalanta and doing well this evening. If we should win, it would be a big step forward. It’s a delicate encounter, then there’s the break for international duty,” the CEO told Mediaset Premium.
“I don’t like to talk about ambition before a game. In recent rounds we’ve come forward in leaps and bounds in terms of performance, especially against Lazio.
“That was an important match and we’ll see if we are able to repeat or even build on that this evening. Sinisa Mihajlovic did well to rebuild the self-esteem of the player, especially those who were coming off the difficult last two years.”
There are seven Italians in the starting XI this evening, including 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and youth academy product Mattia De Sciglio.
“We will be truly happy if we’re able to get a youth product as a stable part of the first team. In recent years we got three in there and we think from next season midfielder Locatelli will be there too, he is 17 now.
“Personally I think it’d be fantastic if we brought one teenager through per year. Our four full-backs all come from the youth academy and we’re satisfied.”
Galliani was also asked about the rumours that Inter will get Andrea Pirlo on loan from New York City FC during the MLS close season.
“We got him from Inter and were fortunate to have him with us for 10 years. Is he going to Inter? Either I don’t know or I am pretending not to know.”
