Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are tracking Mauro Icardi, but a January exit from Inter is highly unlikely.

The striker won the Capocannoniere title in Serie A last season with 22 goals, but has struggled so far this season and was dropped for last week’s top of the table clash with Roma.

This fuelled rumours of a January swoop by Liverpool or Chelsea worth €35m (£25m), while Real Madrid were also very close to the Argentine over the summer.

However, the Corriere dello Sport assures there’s very little chance Inter will let Icardi go, above all in the January transfer window.

He would only be released at the end of the season if the Nerazzurri failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, it seems as if Liverpool have already got their reinforcement in attack for January with a deal for ex-Milan forward Alexandre Pato.

Corinthians President Roberto de Andrade told Tuttomercatoweb that “there is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks.

“Pato has said for a while he wants to go back to Europe. Liverpool await, there are only a few details still to be sorted out, but Jurgen Klopp will have a new forward and the Premier League represents a springboard for Pato.”

Still only 26, Pato joined Milan from Internacional for €22m in 2007, before his 18th birthday, but his career was blighted by a series of muscular injuries.

He went to Corinthians in January 2013 and also had a loan spell at Sao Paulo.
