Liverpool are challenging Juventus for Empoli star Riccardo Saponara, but any deal will benefit Milan.
The 23-year-old creative midfielder likes to sit behind the strikers and has an eye for goal, netting four goals and providing three assists in eight Serie A games this season.
Empoli already confirmed Juventus are in talks for a swoop from next season, but Tuttosport note Liverpool are pushing their way in for January.
Saponara’s price-tag is in the region of €19m (£14m) and Napoli can also be considered contenders thanks to the presence of ex-Empoli Coach Maurizio Sarri.
He barely featured at Milan, but when they sold him back to Empoli on a permanent basis, it was with a clause giving the Rossoneri 40 per cent of any future sale.
