Francesco Guidolin reveals why he didn’t accept a return as Palermo Coach. “I’d have come back, but in a different role.”

The Rosanero sacked Beppe Iachini this week and hired Davide Ballardini.

However, during Ballardini’s presentation Press conference, President Maurizio Zamparini confirmed he had asked Guidolin first.

“I thank the President, as we spoke and exchanged messages,” Guidolin told Tuttomercatoweb.

“It’s not true that I don’t want to be a Coach any more. The fact is that considering the past I had at Palermo, for the wonderful memories I left behind, I’d have come back in a different role.

“I was also prepared to meet the President to discuss something in another position. As I said at other times recently, I want to continue coaching and if the right call arrives I am ready and rested.”

Guidolin had quit Udinese after suffering from excessive stress, but did not last long as a director at the Stadio Friuli club.
