Stefano Okaka admits he “didn’t expect” to be back in the Italy shirt so soon after joining Anderlecht.

The ex-Roma and Sampdoria striker is in the squad to face Belgium in Brussels tomorrow evening, kicking off at 19.45 GMT.

“I didn’t expect to be back in the Nazionale and I thank the Coach for this opportunity,” Okaka told reporters.

He scored on his one and only senior Italy appearance and hopes to add more.

“After the game, I couldn’t even speak! It was without a doubt the most important goal of my career.

“Things are going very well at Anderlecht, I settled in and am happy with this new adventure.

“The best I ever played alongside were Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano. When I was young, my idol was Ronaldo, Il Fenomeno.”
