Arsenal are shopping for an Italian defender, targeting Daniele Rugani of Juventus or Genoa’s Armando Izzo.

The Gunners have long been linked with Italy Under-21 international Rugani, who is also a strong target for Napoli.

He has played just a couple of minutes off the bench in one game for Juve this season and is growing increasingly frustrated ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Metro, Arsene Wenger has also identified a potential alternative to Rugani who is also in Serie A.

Izzo is a 23-year-old centre-back who joined Genoa in July 2014 and appeared in 10 top flight games this season.

He grew up in the Napoli youth academy before moving on to Triestina and Avellino.
