“It is impossible to look further ahead than next week. Not even we know what we are capable of, but among the sides we’ve faced so far I think Fiorentina impressed me the most.
“We have players of enormous quality and it’s much easier to play good football with them. Over the last two or three years my Empoli did not have as much individual quality, but more or less the same characteristics.
“It makes me laugh when people say we are top. That’s because the other teams haven’t played yet. The only certainty is that we have one more point than Roma.”
Breaking Hellas down proved difficult, as they put 10 men behind the ball, but Insigne got the opening goal and then hugged Sarri on the touchline.
“In this type of match it only takes a moment to turn it from 0-0 to 3-0. It was the same game as against Genoa and Carpi, except this time we broke through.
“Insigne did seem irritable at the abuse from the crowd, but I preferred to keep him out for a few more minutes as we could test Verona with the shot from distance. I didn’t expect him to hug me, though!
“In the first half we made wrong choices and tried to attack the space when there was none. We were also a little slow. We spread the play more after the break, Verona ran out of steam with their 6-3-1 system and we found a way through.”
