Sampdoria have officially announced the termination of former Coach Walter Zenga’s contract.

The former goalkeeper was dismissed by the Blucerchiati earlier this month, and was replaced by former Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella.

In Italy, the common practice is to retain the contract of a sacked tactician, as they can’t take another Serie A job in the same season.

An example of this is Carpi re-hiring Fabrizio Castori after sacking him earlier this season, as the club was still paying his wages.

However, Samp have today announced that they have agreed to terminate Zenga’s deal.

“With a sincere ‘good luck’ from President Massimo Ferrero, the directors of UC Sampdoria and Walter Zenga announce that, to the satisfaction of both parties, the contract running until June 30 2016 between the club and the Coach has been terminated,” a statement on the club’s website confirmed.

“The documentation was submitted today to the relevant departments.”
