Hellas Verona have officially sacked Coach Andrea Mandorlini, but no replacement has yet been appointed.

The decision was made after a dismal start to the season, as they are the only team still without a Serie A victory in 14 rounds.

Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Frosinone proved the final straw and Mandorlini was dismissed this evening.

Mandorlini had been at the helm of Hellas since November 9 2010, taking the club from Lega Pro all the way into Serie A thanks to back-to-back promotions.

The favourite to take over is Eugenio Corini. He’s no stranger to the city of Verona, but spent much of his playing and coaching career at their arch rivals Chievo.

Verona should have a new tactician in place for Wednesday evening’s Coppa Italia Fourth Round tie against Pavia.
