Atalanta Coach Edy Reja felt the controversial early penalty made a big difference in their 3-1 Coppa Italia defeat to Udinese.

“We paid for mistakes in attack and distractions in defence, but still created plenty of chances. If you don’t put it in the net, then it becomes tough, whereas Udinese made the most of their opportunities,” Reja told Rai Sport.

“Nobody knew what happened with the penalty incident. You can’t see it properly and you cannot compromise a match after four minutes without being sure. If anything, I thought it was a foul from the Udinese player on Alberto Grassi.”
Reja was sent off from the bench for dissent in the second half.

“I was irritated by some bad decisions, got annoyed and made a mistake, but I did not offend anybody.”
