The crisis intensifies at Roma after President James Pallotta apologised to the fans for a Coppa Italia exit to Spezia.
They were unable to get beyond 0-0 at the Stadio Olimpico after 120 minutes and capitulated 4-2 on penalties.
Now Serie B outfit Spezia will face Lega Pro side Alessandria in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
“On behalf of AS Roma & myself, I want to apologise to the fans for today's game. Congratulations to Spezia,” wrote the President on the club’s official Twitter account.
It has been widely reported that Roma told Coach Rudi Garcia he has one last chance to turn things around against Genoa in Serie A on Sunday or face the sack.
Options to take over include Marcello Lippi, Luciano Spalletti and Walter Mazzarri.
