The 29-year-old defender has repeatedly been linked with a return to the Peninsula for Roma, Fiorentina, Napoli or Genoa.

“I really miss Italy and Serie A, but at the same time I’m happy with my experience in Russia,” the Zenit St Petersburg defender told Radio Deejay.

“I play for a big club and every year I’m in the Champions League, even if when it comes to learning Russian I’m not doing so well.

“I don’t know how much a transfer would cost. At the time Zenit paid €12m, but I am certainly cheaper now because I’m getting old!

“Serie A seems much more balanced this year and, despite their difficult start, Juventus remain the favourites.”

Former Zenit Coach Luciano Spalletti has been tipped to take over at Roma if Rudi Garcia is sacked.

“I haven’t heard from him recently, but I’d be happy for him if he went back to working in Italy,” added Criscito.

“Andre Villas Boas is a fine Coach, he really likes us to train with the ball.”

He is keeping a close eye on his former club Genoa and was disappointed by their Derby della Lanterna defeat to Sampdoria.

“I watched the game and I’m really sad for this difficult period. Genoa have been unlucky, losing an important player like Diego Perotti to injury and Leonardo Pavoletti during a three-match ban.”
