Roberto Mancini blamed the referee for Sassuolo’s victory and insists Inter “were dominating.”

Domenico Berardi converted a last-gasp penalty at San Siro for the 1-0 result, but some thought he purposefully lashed out an arm at Danilo D’Ambrosio in the first half.

“Unfortunately we created many chances and the opposition goalkeeper was excellent. It went like this. I would’ve preferred to win 1-0 while suffering!” Mancini told Mediaset Premium.

“Unfortunately we created many chances and the opposition goalkeeper was excellent. It went like this. I would’ve preferred to win 1-0 while suffering!” Mancini told Mediaset Premium.

“Sassuolo had very few scoring opportunities in the second half. We were dominating and tried to win right to the end.

“The penalty was just an incident, not down to a dip in concentration. We must accept the defeat and move on.

“I do believe Berardi should’ve been sent off for that foul on D’Ambrosio and of course he scored the winner at the end.”

Adem Ljajic missed several sitters, so is he playing too far wide?

“He had five chances and was simply unlucky. He can play anywhere, as a winger or a support striker.”

Mancini was asked about the transfer strategy in January, including Ezequiel Lavezzi, Dries Mertens and Eder.

“Lavezzi and Mertens are too expensive, so it’s unlikely they will arrive. I think we’re talking to Sampdoria about Dodo, but we have good forwards and are fine like this.”
