“We did well to stay in the game and keep it open to the very end. We played with honour, did our duty and can have no regrets.

“It was already a source of great pride that we reached the quarter-finals. We played with dignity and leave the Coppa Italia with our heads held high.”

Carpi knocked Fiorentina out in the last round with a 1-0 win at the Stadio Franchi.
