“The change of Coach could bring enthusiasm that was previously lacking,” said Del Neri in his Press conference.

“We cannot think of going to Roma and just laying down. We have a team that is smart, dynamic and believes in what it is doing.

“Plus we have nothing to lose. We have technique and can take the game to Roma.”

Verona are the first side since Serie A went to 20 teams without a victory halfway through the season. Do they believe in safety?

“We have to believe in our performances. The team does not have the attitude of someone at the foot of the table, as we produce many opportunities.

“Football is not an exact science, you might score with a scuffed shot or hit the woodwork and everything changes.

“The team is motivated to do its duty to the end. We must have a rapport of reciprocal respect with the fans.”

Ante Rebic is in the squad after his loan move from Fiorentina, but the injury list includes Luca Toni, Luca Siligardi, Samuel Souprayen and Federico Viviani.

“He is the kind of striker who can attack the space, something we were missing. Nobody knows what the future holds. If there is a chance, then why not try?”

Verona squad for Roma: Coppola, Gollini, Rafael; Bianchetti, Helander, Moras, Riccardi, Winck; Checchin, Emanuelson, Greco, Hallfredsson, Ionita, Sala, Wszolek, Zaccagni; Fares, Gomez Taleb, Jankovic, Pazzini, Rebic
