“There is no contact with Real Madrid, not even for Morata. We have no temptation because we believe in Morata and are accustomed to not selling our best players,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“Our objective is to monitor and buy young players who represent the present and future of football. For example, tomorrow we hope to finalise the signing of Mandragora from Genoa, a very interesting young midfielder.

“It is not easy to improve our squad in January and the same goes for Napoli and Inter. If we are fortunate, then this squad remains competitive for our objectives.

“Consequently I can tell you there will be no sensational transfer coups in January. Our bad start was all down to injuries and the radical changes in the squad over the summer.

“It’s evident there were problems settling in, but now we want to continue this trend with a 10th straight win.”
