The Little Pharaoh had joined Monaco over the summer on a loan deal with option to buy that would become mandatory after 25 games.

Monaco stopped playing him at the 24th appearance, deciding they did not want to sign the forward on a permanent basis.

“El Shaarawy cannot return to Milan,” CEO Galliani told Milan News this evening. A move to Roma is hanging in the balance, depending on whether the Giallorossi sell Gervinho.

“He either stays at Monaco or finds another club. With Luiz Adriano here too, there are too many players.”

Luiz Adriano had gone to China and posed for pictures with the local fans before pulling the plug on his €14m move to Jiangsu Suning.

A statement released by his entourage claimed the Chinese club had not maintained certain promises and therefore he was returning to Milan.

This put a massive spanner in the works for the Rossoneri’s transfer strategy.

Meanwhile, it’s reported Atalanta have agreed terms to sign 20-year-old Milan forward Andrea Petagna on a permanent basis.

He will remain on loan at Ascoli for the rest of the current campaign.
