New York City FC midfielder Andrea Pirlo confirms he’s aiming to go to the European Championships with Italy - “I want to be there”.
The 36-year-old has won 116 caps for the Azzurri, winning the World Cup in 2006 and inspiring his team to the final in Euro 2012.
“Of course, I want to be there,” Pirlo told Sky.
“It will depend on my performances with my team though. The Coach [Antonio Conte] will make his choices on his own terms and decide.”
Pirlo moved to MLS last summer, deciding to leave Juventus after four consecutive Scudetti.
“I didn’t expect such a high standard, even if there’s room for improvement tactically. The path is the right one though, in a short time it will become one of the big tournaments.”
