Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong is still aiming high this season - “Why not aim for a Champions League spot?”
The Rossoneri are currently seventh, eight points behind the third and final Champions League slot, but the Dutch international thinks they can close the gap.
“Why not aim for a Champions League spot?” De Jong asked Milan Channel.
“There is still a long way to go, we picked up three very important points against Fiorentina and now we must add consistency to our results and keep going against Empoli.
“We have to finish inside the top three to play Champions League football next season.”
Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic warned that the trip to Stadio Castellani will be difficult, and De Jong echoes those words.
“It will be a difficult game because they are playing well and they are a good team. We must win and keep doing well in order to move up the table.
“We are convinced we can go to Empoli and pick up three points. “
