Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini claims Beppe Iachini “wanted to get fired for Sampdoria.”

The fiery patron had a typically forthright Press conference today.

“Beppe had a deal with Massimo Ferrero for a while, it’s just that he didn’t tell me. If he’d just said he wanted to go to Sampdoria, I would’ve let him go straight away.

“I had Roberto Donadoni and Francesco Guidolin free, I could’ve got one of them. At a certain point, Beppe called the Press and not me.

“Do you know what else he did? He didn’t turn up to training before the game with Genoa and we won that through sheer luck. He wanted to get fired and that’s not right.

“I love Beppe like a son and would like to teach him about life, but he doesn’t want to learn. The Palermo fans must know he did this sneaky cheat move.

“He wanted to abandon us, to go to Sampdoria, because in his view we weren’t competitive.”

Zamparini has since sacked Iachini’s replacement Davide Ballardini too.
