The Coach had already used three at the back in the final stages of last week’s 1-1 draw with Verona, but dropped heavy hints in his Press conference that he’d be starting with that system in Turin.

De Rossi could well drop back to form part of the defence and start moves from deep, bringing William Vainqueur into midfield.

This would allow Alessandro Florenzi and Lucas Digne more freedom to push forward without being pegged down by defensive duties.

The other major change will see Nainggolan moved into the trequartista role with Mohamed Salah providing service for Edin Dzeko.

Until now, when Roma did use an extra trequartista in Francesco Totti’s absence, it was Miralem Pjanic who went into the slot behind the striker.

As Totti is not 100 per cent fit, Belgium international with an eye for goal Nainggolan gets the nod.

It is also adjustable, as Salah can either sit deeper with Nainggolan or move into a striker role alongside Dzeko.

“Digne and Florenzi are players you can move 10 metres further up if there are three at the back, not creating gaps behind them when they run forward,” explained Spalletti.

“If we are going to mirror Juventus, we need to be beautiful in the mirror. We have to find our style of football and know how to develop it. So yes, it is possible we’ll start with a three-man defence tomorrow.

“Nainggolan is capable of recovering balls and pushing forward, of being aggressive towards his opponent and creating the space over vast territories.

“He should therefore be allowed the freedom to roam a little, but then he is an all-round midfielder and that is what we ask of him.”

Roma (probable): Szczesny; Manolas, De Rossi, Rudiger; Florenzi, Vainqueur, Pjanic, Digne; Nainggolan, Salah; Dzeko
