“I have been focused on my team and the importance of this game, because I see it as a play-off,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“There’s no room to consider other situations. We mustn’t use the transfer market as an alibi before or after the match. We must be optimistic and concentrated on the task at hand.

“Bologna are a dangerous side who play in a very logical manner. They are balanced and have players who can transition really well.”

Eder has moved to Inter, Ervin Zukanovic to Roma, Vasco Regini to Napoli, while Andrea Ranocchia, Dodo, Jacopo Sala and Milan Skriniar only arrived this week.

“Unfortunately the transfer window is something we just have to deal with,” continued Montella.

“I will certainly field the players who are 99 per cent guaranteed to stay for the rest of the season. Roberto Soriano certainly will not be leaving. He knows, I know, I’ve received guarantees he will not be sold.

“I am the Coach of Sampdoria, not the owner of the club. I can give a professional evaluation of the players, but that’s it.

“Eder was an important player, so obviously with him gone, we are missing something. At this moment we are not a complete squad that can face the rest of the season and the club knows this.”

Fabio Quagliarella is reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Sampdoria from Torino.

“He plays in a different position to Eder. Quagliarella guarantees goals and that is something to be taken into consideration, but he is also of a certain age and with a certain price-tag.

“Luis Muriel has changed his approach to training sessions and matches. He’s improved a great deal and mustn’t stop now. I want to be able to count on him.”

Lorenzo De Silvestri and Carlos Carbonero are out injured with Mattia Cassani suspended.
