Paulo Sousa was disappointed with Fiorentina’s 0-0 draw at Genoa. “We dominated despite the difficulties.”

The Coach was sent off in the final minutes for trying to put the ball back in quickly – before it had completely crossed the touchline.

“I anticipated everyone – including myself. There are rules, but it was an honest mistake,” he smiled on Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium.

“I anticipated everyone – including myself. There are rules, but it was an honest mistake,” he smiled on Sky Sport Italia and Mediaset Premium.

“We had difficult moments, as Genoa pressured us all over the field, man against man. This is a difficult arena to play in and we were not allowed to play our usual Fiorentina style.

“In the second half we emerged better and dominated despite the difficulties.”

Transfer deadline day is tomorrow evening, yet there is still no sign of the defender Sousa requested.

“My state of mind is positive because football is my life and my passion. These things happen in football, we must continue working so we can be competitive and the best version of ourselves we can be.”

Nikola Kalinic was dropped in favour of new signing Mauro Zarate and hasn’t scored yet in 2016.

“Kalinic played many games with us pre-season and therefore needs time now to recover his full fitness levels. He has great characteristics and creates many opportunities, but we also have other players who are doing well.”
