Juventus defender Martin Caceres has ruptured his Achilles tendon, and will miss the rest of the season.
The Uruguayan was in tears as he was stretchered-off during last night’s win over Genoa, and it was immediately feared that he had torn his Achilles.
"Martin Caceres underwent a series of tests to ascertain the full extent of his injury," Juventus confirmed on their official website.
"These confirmed a torn right Achilles tendon and the player will have surgery tomorrow."
The news means Caceres will miss the rest of the Bianconeri’s season, and he may well have played his last game for the club, with his contract expiring in the summer.
